SINGAPORE & MORE

GETTING THERE
well, COTW is off on another adventure. this time Singapore en route to Auckland, NZ. so i'm here visiting my barrister pal, paul hofmeyr, from betty's bay fame a year ago where i spent new year's in cape town and the whole COTW (Citizen Of The World) got started. but now paul is living in singapore (not Nairobi) working for a UK law firm in shipping finance. and the Emirates flight to Auckland literally went thru singapore so i lucked out. 5 hour flight NBO to Dubai, then a 3 hour layover, then another flight 7 hours to singapore. one night in paul's flat, then 2 nights in the Fullerton Hotel. and use of the Fullerton Bay Hotel pool. very pimpy indeed.

SINGAPORE

5 Things i Like About Singapore
1. great urban architecture
2. clean
3. roads are perfectly smooth
4. lots of places to eat
5. attractive women

5 Things i Don't Like About Singapore

so, for a cityphile like me, getting to a modern urban setting has been just the ticket. the infrastructure, the highways, the metro, the architecture, the fashion, the asian men's haircuts, the vibe, the fast food chains (guilty of Burger King & McDonalds!), the exotic foods (little india, jumbo chili crab, lau passat satay city), lots of cool places to chill out and eat, overall a complete submersion into the first world. Singapore is the pride of Asia, ultra modern, ultra clean, ultra rich, ultra law and order, ultra safe, ultra likeable. a perfect tonic for this bush baby who grew up a city lad. really fun to be here.

next stop is NZ. fly tomorrow. so better caption these pics and get it posted!

thanks for following! COTW back on the road, bringing you the world!

  1. So let me see if I get this right. It is 4pm in Singapore while it's 12pm here, but you are a day ahead. So it's the 16th here and it's the 17th there. Is that right? Laurelle
